Link: Alphabet’s Wing will deliver DoorDash by drone in Dallas-Fort Worth

Wing, a subsidiary of Alphabet, is extending its drone delivery services to DoorDash customers in Dallas-Fort Worth. Starting today, items from 50 merchants in Frisco and Fort Worth can be delivered via drones directly to homes through the DoorDash app.

The drones zoom at speeds up to 65mph and descend from a cruise height of 150 feet to carefully lower deliveries. Customers feel an added layer of convenience with items arriving in as little as 15 minutes.

Drone delivery on DoorDash is only available for customers with an "eligible address" in the service catchment area. Interested locals can verify their eligibility on the Wing website.

Wing's drone delivery service has conducted over 400,000 commercial deliveries worldwide since its first U.S. pilot in 2019. Previously, the company experimented with DoorDash in Australia and delivered for Wendy's in Virginia.

Wing isn't new to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, having previously partnered with Walgreens for drone deliveries. In a similar vein, Walmart collaborates with Wing and Zipline for its regional drone delivery services.
