Link: Apple will let you share lost AirTag info with an airline

Apple's upcoming iOS 18.2 update includes a new Find My app feature enabling users to temporarily share an AirTag's location. This functionality is designed to aid with locating lost items such as luggage at airports, by sharing details with airport staff or trusted individuals.

The "Share Item Location" option generates a link that can be sent to anyone, which opens in the Find My app on Apple devices or as a web page on others.

This link provides the recipient with the item's last known location and automatically expires after a week or upon item recovery.

Users can also track how many people have accessed their shared link.

Additionally, the "Show Contact Info" feature allows sharers to include their phone number and email, facilitating direct contact by the finder.

In September 2023, Apple added a feature to share an AirTag's location continuously with up to five people, enhancing the ability to monitor shared assets like pets and vehicles.

This latest update further extends its utility by simplifying the process of finding missing items without the need to manually revoke access later. #
