Link: ChatGPT can now handle reminders and to-dos
OpenAI has introduced a new feature called Tasks in ChatGPT, aimed at scheduling future actions and reminders for its subscribers. Initially available to Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers, Tasks is designed to make ChatGPT function more like a digital assistant, similar to Google Assistant or Siri.
Tasks allow users to set up both one-time and recurring reminders, ranging from daily weather updates to expiration notifications for important documents. Users simply tell ChatGPT what they need and when they need it done.
To access this feature, subscribers must select the “4o with scheduled tasks” option in ChatGPT’s model picker. Once selected, they can command the chatbot by typing their desired tasks and scheduling requirements.
Tasks can be managed directly in chat threads or through a new section in the profile menu, ensuring ease of modification or cancellation. Completed tasks trigger notifications across web, desktop, and mobile platforms, although there is a limit of 10 active tasks.
While scheduling features are common in digital assistants, OpenAI's integration into ChatGPT marks a significant shift from real-time interaction to future planning and task management. This extension into traditional virtual assistant roles suggests a broader vision for the AI's capabilities.
The introduction of Tasks is initially a beta feature, indicating OpenAI’s caution in perfecting this service before a full rollout. Users experimenting with Tasks should note its beta status, particularly for critical reminders. #
