Link: ChatGPT is a terrible, fascinating, and thrilling to-do list app
Every morning at 7:30, I receive a notification from ChatGPT suggesting a 20-minute workout and a 10-minute meditation. While I appreciate the regular push, the repetition of the same activities is becoming monotonous.
OpenAI's recent updates have introduced features like Tasks and Operator, aimed at transforming ChatGPT into a productivity tool.
As someone constantly testing productivity apps, I experimented with these new features to see if they could enhance my efficiency.
Using ChatGPT for tasks shows its strength in kickstarting projects, serving as a brainstorming aid and draft generator. However, as a to-do list app, it is overly complicated and often inefficient.
Despite its flaws, the reminders for routine tasks like making overnight oats or taking out the trash are reliably delivered on time, adding some value.
Operator, a more 'agentic' model, attempts to perform tasks directly through web interactions, like booking accommodations or finding products.
While it can navigate websites and sort information, it lacks the understanding to always deliver relevant results, leading to mixed outcomes.
In essence, ChatGPT and its productivity tools show promise but are far from perfect.
They offer a glimpse of what a truly helpful AI assistant could be, but there is still a long way to go in developing a seamless, effective tool.
