Link: Driverless race car sets a new autonomous speed record

A Maserati MC20 Coupe, equipped with autonomous driving software by Politecnico di Milano, set a new speed record for autonomous vehicles at 197.7mph.

This achievement occurred at the Kennedy Space Center, topping the previous record of 192.2mph set by an IAC AV-21 race car in April 2022.

The event was part of collaboration with the Indy Autonomous Challenge, a group that showcases cutting-edge high-speed autonomous technology.

In addition to setting a record, the trial aimed to stress-test the algorithms that manage autonomous driving at extreme speeds.

According to Paul Mitchell, CEO of Indy Autonomous Challenge, these speed records help advance the safety and reliability of high-speed autonomous mobility on highways.

The Maserati MC20, chosen for this endeavor, is not only fast but also boasts a powerful twin-turbocharged V-6 engine known as the Nettuno. #
