Link: Google is reportedly developing a ‘computer-using agent’ AI system

Google may unveil "Project Jarvis", a model to automate web tasks for users, by December, as per a report from The Information. Jarvis aims to perform activities like research, shopping, and booking flights through Chrome, using Google's advanced Gemini technology.

The AI tool operates by interpreting screenshots and interacting with web interfaces through clicks and text entries. Currently, it takes Jarvis a few seconds to complete each step in the process.

Major tech firms including Microsoft and Apple are also developing similar AI solutions. Microsoft's Copilot Vision and Apple's upcoming Intelligence aim to facilitate interaction with and across webpages and apps.

Competitor Anthropic has recently introduced a beta update for Claude, although it's still prone to errors. OpenAI is reported to be exploring a comparable technology.

While Google plans to present Jarvis this December, this timeline may change. The company might first roll out the technology to a limited group for testing and enhancements.
