Link: Here’s the Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo unveiled the first details of the Nintendo Switch 2, setting its launch for 2025. However, a specific release date was not provided.

The new console maintains a design similar to its predecessor but features a larger build. Enhanced Joy-Con controllers now attach possibly through magnets, a feature hinted at in earlier leaks.

These controllers include a new button beneath the home button and larger SL and SR buttons. Additionally, Nintendo introduced usability improvements like a redesigned kickstand.

A USB-C port and a reshaped dock are part of the updated hardware. The console also supports a new Mario Kart game and is backward-compatible with existing Switch games, though some limitations apply.

More details will be revealed in a dedicated Direct presentation on April 2, 2025. Fans can also experience the console in April at events in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas, with ticket registration opening in January.

Nintendo aims for the Switch 2 to follow the hugely successful first Switch, which sold over 146 million units and hosted numerous blockbuster games. The new console promises compatibility with these popular titles through both physical and digital formats. #
