Link: Huawei’s new tri-fold phone costs more than a 16-inch MacBook Pro

Huawei has unveiled the world’s first dual-hinged, triple-screen foldable phone, the Mate XT Ultimate Design. It starts at 19,999 yuan for the 256GB model, which is more costly than a new 16-inch MacBook Pro.

All Mate XT models come with 16GB of RAM, with the highest capacity 1TB model priced at 23,999 yuan. Before the price reveal, Chinese retailer Vmall registered 3.7 million preorders.

The phone’s unique “Z” fold design supports multiple user configurations. Its OLED screen spans from 6.4 inches in phone mode to 10.2 inches when fully extended.

The device features robust charging options, supporting up to 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. It's powered by a 5,600mAh battery.

For photography, it carries a triple camera array with a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and a 12MP periscope camera. An 8MP front camera enhances selfie capabilities.

We’ve asked Huawei about the Mate XT's international availability, though we remain skeptical about its release outside China. #
