Link: Instagram teases AI editing tools that will completely reimagine your videos

Instagram is set to launch a generative AI video editing tool next year, powered by Meta's Movie Gen AI model. This feature, announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, will enable users to drastically alter video elements just by inputting text prompts.

The new tool aims to simplify video editing, allowing creators to transform content effortlessly. From changing outfits to modifying backgrounds, the AI can make substantial visual adjustments.

During a teaser, Mosseri was shown with varying alterations, including being transformed into a puppet. Subtler changes like adding objects or accessories to scenes were also demonstrated.

Although the technology appeared smooth in brief demonstrations, real-world performance remains uncertain. Earlier models by competitors showed promise initially but fell short upon wider release.

Meta introduced its Movie Gen AI in October, focusing on preserving natural movement and identity in edited videos. Instagram will be the first to implement this model, giving it an edge in video editing technology.

Competing platforms like OpenAI and Adobe have also released similar technologies, with Adobe already integrating these into existing tools. However, Instagram's integration marks a significant step in accessible AI-driven video modifications for users. #
