Link: Intel launches Arrow Lake Core Ultra 200U, 200H, and 200HX laptop CPUs; none of the CPUs meet the AI performance requirements for Microsoft's Copilot+ (Andrew Cunningham/Ars Technica)

Intel has expanded its Core Ultra 200 laptop series with new models powered by Arrow Lake architecture, lacking the advanced Copilot+ compatibility.

The new U- and H-series processors, despite being less advanced, are tailored for gaming laptops and budget-friendly ultraportables.

Intel chose Arrow Lake over Lunar Lake for these chips due to cost-efficiency, although it sacrifices some performance features like integrated high-performing graphics.

Both U- and H-series chips integrate older architectures and maintain comparable I/O capabilities as previous generations, indicating a strategic reuse of technology.

This approach allows Intel to produce balanced performance for thin-and-light laptops without escalating production costs.

Shipping in February 2025, these new entries aim to offer a mix of affordability and performance, albeit with some compromises. #
