Apple continues to develop AI features outside China with its proprietary tech and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, inside China, these features will rely on local partnerships due to the absence of ChatGPT.

To facilitate these features in China, Apple and Alibaba have sought regulatory approvals. This move is critical as Apple aims to regain its market position after slipping to third in smartphone sales.

Furthermore, Apple is working with Baidu to enhance AI-powered search functions that manage both images and text. These efforts include improving the Chinese version of Siri.

The lack of AI features in iPhones has been a significant factor in the sales decline, pressuring Apple to adapt and innovate within the Chinese market. This partnership with Alibaba could be pivotal in turning around Apple’s fortunes.
