Link: Japanese firms to offer drone video-shooting services for tourists
JTB alongside two other Japanese companies will deploy drones to film visitors at tourist destinations, starting with Shodo Island. This initiative aims to enhance the promotion of these locations.
Customers can activate the drones by scanning QR codes and making online payments, allowing for convenient access. After the procedure, the drones will start recording videos.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will automatically edit the footage, delivering one to two minutes of video within about 30 minutes. This quick turnaround ensures prompt delivery of memories.
The cost for this unique video experience is set at ¥2,000 each time. This pricing aims to make the service accessible while ensuring quality.
The trial phase is slated from Saturday to May 6, post which, the services officially begin on August 1. The introduction of this technology promises to revolutionize visitor experiences.
By 2026, the firms aim to expand this service to 10 different locations, and by 2027, each of Japan's 47 prefectures will feature it. This ambitious expansion underlines the potential growth in drone-filmed tourist engagement. #
