Link: JetBlue is the first airline to take Venmo payments
JetBlue now offers Venmo as a payment method for buying tickets on jetblue.com, with plans to extend this feature to its mobile app. This move makes JetBlue the first airline to leverage the popular peer-to-peer payment platform owned by PayPal.
With Venmo, users can pay directly through their balance or linked bank accounts and cards without manually entering payment details. This alternative simplifies the transaction process similar to using Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Currently, the Venmo payment option is limited to ticket purchases only. For inflight purchases such as snacks, traditional payment methods are still necessary.
Using Venmo is expected to appeal particularly to groups, making it easier to manage and split travel expenses. The app’s Groups feature can be a handy tool for organizing payments for trips, like a bachelorette getaway.
To purchase a JetBlue ticket using Venmo, select your flight at jetblue.com, proceed to checkout, and choose Venmo under More Payment Options. Then, scan the QR code with the Venmo app and authorize the payment.
This integration highlights Venmo’s expansion into service-specific transactions, indicating a trend toward broader applications in payment solutions. #
