Link: Microsoft is combining ‘the best of Xbox and Windows together’ for handhelds

Xbox and Windows Handheld Gaming Integration

Xbox chief Phil Spencer has hinted at integrating the Xbox experience with Windows PCs, promising significant changes within the year. Jason Ronald, Microsoft’s Vice President of "Next Generation," revealed these plans at a recent AMD and Lenovo event.

At the event, Ronald emphasized Microsoft's history of innovation in consoles, discussing the transition of these innovations to PC and handheld devices. He confirmed that the integration of Xbox and Windows would commence soon.

Current Windows handheld performance is subpar, Ronald acknowledged the need for a console-like simplicity in the user experience. Microsoft aims to centralize the player's game library and streamline the overall experience.

Although Microsoft is improving Xbox app integration for a better handheld experience, substantial changes to the Windows gaming experience are still needed. Ronald teased more announcements slated for later this year.

Microsoft's strategy involves leveraging Xbox's capabilities on Windows, masking the cumbersome aspects of the traditional Windows interface. Improving compatibility with controllers and optimizing user interaction without a keyboard and mouse are key focus areas.
