Link: Microsoft is using Bing to trick people into thinking they’re on Google

Microsoft is employing new tactics to encourage Bing usage by mimicking Google's appearance on its search results page. When users search for "Google" on Bing without signing in, the interface displayed is strikingly similar to Google's, complete with a spoofed search bar and doodle.

The transformed Bing page aims to retain users, subtly hiding Bing’s own interface elements. This special interface becomes even more prevalent when new PC users initialize their Microsoft Edge browser.

However, beneath this disguise, Bing still provides genuine search outcomes for Google. The detailed imitation includes elements like a Google-like small text beneath the search bar to enhance the facade.

Microsoft's approach to promote Bing and Edge has included altering Chrome download pages and embedding ads and polls. This strategy reflects a broader pattern of aggressive tactics aimed at diverting users from Google's services.

Despite Google using alerts to promote Chrome over Edge, it doesn't match Microsoft's invasive modifications at the operating system level. This subtle competition between Microsoft and Google continues to evolve, showcasing differing approaches to user retention.
