Link: New Cloudflare Tools Let Sites Detect and Block AI Bots for Free

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince highlights the unsustainable path of AI scraping and introduces new tools to combat it. In a WIRED interview, he discusses Cloudflare’s launch of a suite of bot management tools aimed to empower website owners.

These tools include real-time monitoring and selective blocking of AI bots, available to Cloudflare's vast user base, including 33 million free service users.

"We've labeled all the AI crawlers, even those attempting to hide," Prince explains from Cloudflare’s European headquarters in Lisbon.

Earlier measures allowed users to block all known AI bots, while the updated service offers more nuanced control, enhancing arrangements between publishers and AI firms.

Additionally, Cloudflare is setting up a marketplace for website owners to negotiate terms directly with AI companies, aiming to ensure fair compensation for content creators.

Despite varied responses from AI companies, with reactions ranging from cooperative to dismissive, Prince remains optimistic about Cloudflare’s role in regulating AI interactions and supporting content creators. #
