Link: Nvidia’s $249 dev kit promises cheap, small AI power
Nvidia has unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, a compact AI computer that offers advanced AI processing capabilities for $249. The new model delivers a significant upgrade with 70 percent higher neural processing power and 50 percent increased memory bandwidth.
The Jetson Orin Nano Super is designed to support complex AI projects, like constructing chatbots or visual AI agents, and AI-driven robots. It combines an Nvidia Ampere GPU with tensor cores and a 6-core Arm CPU in an 8GB system-on-module setup.
Nvidia’s latest offering is a powerhouse, providing 67 TOPS of performance compared to the previous 40 TOPS. The performance leap is due to a new power mode that enhances the GPU, memory, and CPU clocks.
This launch builds on the success of the Jetson Nano line, which has been empowering hobbyists and makers with affordable AI and robotics tools since 2019. Priced at half of its predecessor, the Jetson Orin Nano Super maintains the same hardware foundation to ensure consistency in performance gains.
Available for purchase now, the kit includes a reference carrier board alongside the powerful system-on-module. Nvidia has also prepared a new JetPack update to exploit the upgraded hardware's capabilities fully.
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang demonstrated the capabilities of the Nano Super in a recent video, underscoring its potential to revolutionize personal AI development. #
