Link: Nvidia’s RTX 5090 is out of stock because it was barely in stock

Nvidia's launch of the $1,999 RTX 5090 graphics card faced severe shortages, leading to it being dubbed a “paper launch.” People lined up at stores only to find very limited supplies available.

Reddit users tracked the stock at various Micro Center locations in the US, with some stores having fewer than 10 RTX 5090 cards. The Tustin, California location had the most stock, yet still insufficient to meet demand.

Although the RTX 5080 was slightly easier to find on launch day, it too quickly sold out at major retailers like Best Buy and Amazon. This scarcity frustrated many eager customers.

On online forums, numerous posts revealed the frustration of customers, with some having waited in line for days. Meanwhile, others shared their lucky break of securing a card through being early in line.

Retailers are now mostly taking preorders for the RTX 5090, indicating delays in availability that could last months. Scalpers are exploiting the situation by selling the cards for upwards of $5,000 on platforms like eBay.

Nvidia has remained mostly silent on the issue, only reiterating their initial warning about the expected stock shortages. This lack of communication has only added to the disappointment and frustration among gamers and tech enthusiasts. #
