Link: Pew Research poll asks what workers are doing with AI chatbots.

A Pew Research Center study explores U.S. workers' use and perceptions of AI chatbots like ChatGPT in their jobs. Most workers have limited interaction with AI chatbots at work, with 55% using them rarely or never, and 29% unaware of them.

Among those who use AI chatbots, they primarily help with research, editing, and drafting content. Only a minority use them for creative tasks or data analysis.

Younger workers (ages 18-49) and those with higher education levels report more frequent use of AI chatbots for a variety of tasks compared to their older or less educated counterparts.

Among users, 40% find AI chatbots highly beneficial for speed, and 29% say they improve work quality. Frequent users perceive greater benefits in both speed and quality enhancements than infrequent users.

Many workers have never used AI chatbots at work, citing irrelevance to their jobs or lack of interest as common reasons. Overall, 69% of workers do not use AI chatbots at their workplace.

While the encouragement from employers to use AI chatbots is generally low, industries like IT and finance show a higher propensity to promote their use.
