Poshmark is introducing Smart List AI, a new tool designed to help sellers quickly create listings using AI. This feature automatically generates product details, titles, and descriptions from uploaded photos.

The tool has been in development since last fall and aims to reduce the time sellers spend on listing items. Although it captures essential details like product type, size, and color, sellers need to set their prices manually.

Similar to eBay’s AI listing features, Poshmark's Smart List AI requires sellers to verify the accuracy of the information provided. Accurate descriptions are crucial in the resale market for correctly representing an item's condition and specifics.

Despite the growing trend of AI in retail, including efforts from big names like Shopify and Amazon, these tools often lack the capability to capture nuanced product details such as flaws or precise measurements. From personal experience, AI-generated descriptions on platforms like eBay generally lack substance and are overly promotional.

However, the overarching goal of these AI tools in the retail sector appears to be enhancing production scale rather than quality. Poshmark plans to make Smart List AI available for iOS users starting in February.
