Link: Q&A with Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman on the company's AI agent progress, like transacting with third parties on users' behalf, which is still a ways off (Will Knight/Wired)

As CEO of Microsoft AI, Suleyman is spearheading the integration of advanced AI, akin to that which powers ChatGPT, into widely used software such as Windows.

This initiative includes the new AI assistant, Copilot, which boasts a humanlike voice, screen-reading capabilities, and enhanced reasoning powers. Microsoft announced these upgrades today.

Suleyman, during a discussion with WIRED, explained that these features are designed to rejuvenate user interest and engagement with PCs. He communicated these insights from Redmond, Washington, over Microsoft Teams.

Moving from Inflection AI to Microsoft, Suleyman brought with him a focus on creating supportive and empathetic AI technologies. He highlighted the continuation of his long-standing belief in AI’s potential to offer emotional support.

The updated Copilot now incorporates a ‘vision mode’ for Pro users, allowing them to interact with their computers through voice commands about visible content. Suleyman emphasized that this interaction could transform digital navigation by reducing the need to type.

Copilot Vision, unlike earlier features, does not store user data, ensuring privacy and data security at Microsoft’s highest standards. Suleyman also shared insights into making AI more helpful and interactive, including tasks like purchasing or scheduling. #
