Link: SimpliSafe’s new camera lets live agents watch your property
SimpliSafe has unveiled its new Active Guard Outdoor Protection featuring live monitoring via an advanced outdoor camera. This service, which includes AI-driven person detection and live agent intervention, was introduced after its public beta in April.
The camera allows agents to view live feeds, communicate with potential intruders, and contact emergency services if needed. Pricing starts at $49.99 a month for overnight monitoring and extends to $79.99 for round-the-clock surveillance.
Live indoor monitoring and security sensor alerts are included in the service fees. Also, SimpliSafe provides a more cost-effective solution compared to its competitor Ring, which offers similar services for $100 monthly.
Hooman Shahidi from SimpliSafe detailed the workings of the system to The Verge, outlining the AI's role in person verification and situation assessment. Friendly or necessary confrontations are managed in real-time, enhancing security responsiveness.
The required Outdoor Camera 2, priced at $199.99, boasts enhanced processing, night vision, and audio capabilities. Upgrades are available for existing customers with discounts.
CEO Christian Cerda emphasized the role of generative AI in improving alarm accuracy and aiding crime prevention. This innovation streamlines information for agents and long-term aims to autonomously discern non-threatening scenarios, refining overall home security dynamics. #
