Sony has launched its Ethereum Layer 2 platform, Soneium, after a four-month test period that attracted over 14 million users.

The platform, developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, is equipped with creator-centric tools such as NFT-based engagement systems and the Soneium Spark incubator program.

During its testnet phase which began last August, Soneium processed around 50 million transactions, peaking at 667,508 daily transactions on November 6, 2024.

This activity indicates a robust usage rate with an average of 3.3 transactions per address during the testing phase.

The platform also saw the creation and verification of 12,600 smart contracts, underscoring significant developer interest and growth of its ecosystem.

Sony Group's blockchain initiative continues to expand with the introduction of the "Minato" testnet, designed to emulate mainnet conditions and encourage high-volume applications through developer incentives. #
