Star Citizen, a space simulation game, has surpassed $750 million in crowdfunding, setting a record in the gaming industry. Since its inception in 2012, it has become the most crowdfunded project ever, second only to EOS in overall product crowdfunding.

Despite raising over $5 million last week alone, Star Citizen still lacks a confirmed release date. Its developer, Cloud Imperium Games, is also focused on releasing a related single-player game titled Squadron 42 before finalizing Star Citizen.

Squadron 42 is scheduled for a 2026 release after being in development for several years. It was initially planned to launch in 2014; however, numerous delays have pushed its release further back.

The prologue of Squadron 42 was showcased at this year's Citizen Con, impressing audiences with its visuals. Nevertheless, the gameplay did not present any groundbreaking innovations.

Chris Roberts, the mind behind Star Citizen, had originally aimed for a 2014 release. With no set release date even now, fans are left wondering if the game will launch before reaching $1 billion in crowdfunding.

Despite ongoing delays and an extending development timeline, Squadron 42 and Star Citizen continue to maintain significant interest within the gaming community. Whether they will meet expectations remains a major topic of discussion among supporters and critics alike. #
