Link: Taylor Swift spurred 30% boost in Chiefs’ fan base, CEO says

The Taylor Swift craze surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning season helped fuel a 30% increase in the fan base, said Clark Hunt, the team’s chief executive officer.

Swift became a fixture at Chiefs games after she began dating Travis Kelce, the team’s tight end. Her presence at Arrowhead Stadium sparked a media frenzy when their relationship was confirmed during a game against the Chicago Bears.

"I’m happy for Taylor and Travis. They make a fantastic couple,” Hunt said in an interview. "The growth in our female fan base has been amazing over the last year.”

When Swift attended her first game, she didn’t want special treatment, preferring to enter through the front gates. "Our security people were like, ‘Are you kidding me?’” Hunt recalled with a laugh.

While Swift’s influence was significant, the Chiefs’ success, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, also played a key role in expanding the fan base. Merchandise sales soared, with Mahomes and Kelce ranking among the top in the NFL.

Swift attended 13 of the Chiefs’ 21 games, including Super Bowl LVIII, the league’s most-watched game ever. "We’ve never seen anything like this,” said Ian Trombetta, the NFL’s senior VP of social and influencer marketing. #
