Link: The Delta emulator is getting online multiplayer for Nintendo DS games

The popular Delta emulator for iOS is set to enhance its features with online multiplayer support for Nintendo DS games. This update was shared by Delta developer Riley Testut, who included a nostalgic video showcasing a Mario Kart DS race.

Nintendo discontinued its DS online services in 2014, prompting us to inquire about the functionality of the new feature. Testut explained that the support utilizes melonDS' capabilities, connecting to third-party Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers like Kaeru and Wimmfi.

This integration means that the 10 million+ Delta users can now connect with other Delta users as well as gamers on actual devices using these third-party services. However, the service will initially limit itself to Nintendo DS games that originally supported Nintendo WFC.

The Delta team has decided not to host their own servers, ensuring that the online multiplayer feature will be free. Despite being limited to Nintendo DS games, all titles with Nintendo WFC compatibility can be played online.

Testut mentioned that the feature will debut in a beta version for Delta’s Patreon subscribers. A public release date has not been announced yet.

While the wait could be lengthy, it allows ample time for users to sharpen their skills in games like Mario Kart DS. Get ready to relive old memories and create new ones online with the updated Delta emulator. #
