Link: This crowdfunded E Ink QWERTY phone isn’t vaporware after all

The Minimal Phone, touted as the first Android with an E Ink display and a physical QWERTY keyboard, has finally begun shipping after numerous delays. It resembles a BlackBerry and features a monochrome E Ink screen operating at a 600 x 800 resolution.

Despite its sluggish display, the device runs on Android 14, which limits the use of high-performance apps but maintains access to many regular functions.

The phone's design promotes minimal distractions, although the full Android experience might counteract this intent.

Alongside basic functionalities, the Minimal Phone offers several advanced features such as NFC, a fingerprint sensor, and Qi wireless charging.

Originally delayed multiple times, the phone is now being delivered to early backers, and new orders are expected to ship by March with a promotional price of $399.

Its main competitor is TCL's Nxtpaper, which offers a monochrome mode without a physical keyboard, leaving the Minimal Phone as the unique option for those wanting both features in their device. #
