Link: This year’s Super Bowl will be full of AI ads

You can expect to see a surge of AI-focused commercials during Super Bowl LIX. Mark Evans, Fox Sports' Executive VP of ad sales, has indicated that AI is dominating this year's ad scene, with some spots costing over $8 million for just 30 seconds.

On the other hand, Hollywood and streaming services are cutting back on their advertisements. According to Evans, the decrease is partially due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes.

These strikes occurred because actors and writers were concerned about losing work to AI, which often uses their past work without permission. This conflict has directly affected advertising trends in entertainment.

Despite this shift, the Super Bowl remains a prime advertising event, with more than 10 brands paying record-breaking fees for their ad slots. However, some companies like State Farm have pulled out, leading Fox to resell these slots.

While AI ads are prominent this year, past trends suggest they might not dominate future Super Bowls. For instance, despite the heavy presence of cryptocurrency ads in 2022, none were featured in the following year.

This year's focus on AI may reflect more on the current hype around the technology rather than a lasting change in advertising strategies. #
