Link: Toyota’s futuristic Woven City in Japan is ready for its first residents
Toyota's $10 billion Woven City project on a former car factory site in Japan is nearing completion, ready to house its first residents in 2025. This futuristic "living laboratory" will allow inhabitants to test new technologies in real-time settings.
"Woven City is more than just a place to live, it's a hub for invention," stated Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda at CES. Here, residents or "Weavers" will actively participate in developing new products and ideas.
The initial phase will welcome 100 Toyota employees, with plans to eventually include external inventors and their families.
Confirmed participants include those in the food services sector, exploring innovative concepts like futuristic cafe experiences.
Designed by renowned architect Bjarke Ingels, Woven City will feature distinct pathways for different types of users, promoting a blend of mobility and accessibility.
With goals to expand up to 2,000 residents, Toyota hopes to showcase Woven City to the public by 2026, demonstrating a blend of modern living and innovative transportation solutions." #
