Link: WhatsApp really hopes you want to talk with AI bots

Meta's WhatsApp is revamping its Android beta design to prominently feature AI chatbots. A new tab on the homepage will focus solely on AI, showcasing popular AI characters and others categorized by subject.

The new tab is aimed at enhancing user engagement with AI tools, which include AI-generated images and stickers, alongside a Meta AI-powered search tool. These features, however, remain limited to the US and select other countries.

Further refining AI interactions, WhatsApp is testing functionalities that allow users to create personalized AI characters directly in the app. Previously, custom AI bots could only be created through Instagram's AI Studio.

This update also includes a streamlined process for Community creation within the existing Chats tab, replacing the previous Communities tab. Despite these changes, the standard features associated with Communities are still accessible.

Available only in a limited beta via Google Play, it's uncertain when or if this AI-focused update will roll out to all users. However, it will likely remain restricted to regions where AI features are presently offered.

The introduction of a dedicated AI tab signals WhatsApp’s commitment to integrating more AI capabilities, potentially transforming user interactions within the app. #
