Link: X will let people you’ve blocked see your posts

X is updating its block feature, allowing blocked users to view your public posts. This change was confirmed by X's owner, Elon Musk, who believes that the block function should only stop direct interactions.

Previously, a blocked user would be unable to access or view the blocker's profile or posts. They would encounter a "You're blocked" message and could not see replies, media, or lists of followers and following.

Musk has criticized the block feature, campaigning for a more effective mute function instead. He finds the current block system ineffective and has even mentioned eliminating it entirely, except for direct messages.

Despite these changes, the block feature will still prevent blocked users from interacting with the person’s posts. However, allowing them to view posts could pose a risk of ongoing harassment.

According to The Verge, you could still see a blocked user's posts if logged out or using another account. This policy adjustment aims to align the user experience with these existing workarounds.

Musk’s disdain for the block button reflects his broader vision for X, prioritizing open visibility over user personal boundaries. This approach could encourage continued observation without interaction, potentially empowering persistent aggressors. #
