Link: You can now use AirTags to expedite a lost luggage reunion through United’s mobile app

Following the release of iOS 18.2, United Airlines added Apple's new Share Item Location feature to its app. This integration allows passengers to share the location of their luggage via a link if it goes missing.

Passengers need to update the United app and connect a Share Item Location link to an AirTag or compatible device. United's customer service agents can then trace luggage using an interactive map.

Access to the Find My network will assist United Airlines in quickly recovering delayed bags. Sharing a lost bag's location can expedite its return, enhancing customer satisfaction.

Even without the app, United assists passengers. After reporting delayed luggage, customers receive a text to track and add a Share Item Location link.

Once reunited with their luggage, passengers' location sharing is automatically disabled. Manual disabling is possible, and for increased security, the link expires after seven days.

Apple noted that Air Canada also adopted this feature. In the coming months, more than 15 airlines will start using Find My locations to manage luggage issues.
