Link: Zoom will let AI avatars talk to your team for you

Zoom is set to enhance virtual meetings by introducing AI avatars that can attend in your place. This new feature, part of a broader AI expansion, allows users to create digital versions of themselves.

To craft your AI avatar, you'll start with a video recording of yourself, which Zoom's AI technology will transform to mirror your appearance and voice. You then script what your avatar will say, providing a hands-off way to communicate in briefings.

This functionality integrates with Zoom's Clips feature, enabling users to send quick video updates. The AI avatars aim to streamline workplace communication by speaking on behalf of the user.

Addressing potential security concerns, Zoom is implementing measures such as advanced authentication and watermarking. Zoom's chief product officer emphasized the careful handling of this technology to prevent misuse.

The AI avatars will be available next year via Zoom's new AI Companion add-on, costing an additional $12 per month. For existing subscribers without the add-on, Zoom will offer preset avatars and voices.

Zoom's CEO envisions these AI avatars as digital twins, intended to represent users in meetings and manage routine tasks like email. The ultimate goal is to leverage AI to automate these aspects of work, enhancing productivity and personal flexibility. #
